Welcome to Abundant Living—we’re so glad you’re here! We hope the information below will be helpful to you as you prepare for your first visit.
You can even kick off your shoes if you’d like—it’s not unheard of here! At Abundant Living, we proudly maintain a small office environment, affording our clients with an intimate, personal experience in a casual atmosphere. We hope you’ll come early and enjoy some relaxing time for yourself in our waiting room, where we offer hot and cold beverages and a soothing ambiance. Have a cup of coffee or tea and unwind for a moment! And because of our small town location, we take extra measures to protect client confidentiality, offering a private entrance and parking at the rear of our building.
You may also use a Health Savings or Flex Account. Using a pre-tax Flex or Health Savings Account for counseling can save you money and avoid the complications of using insurance. Unlike using your health insurance for counseling, this option does not require that we provide your insurance company with your mental health diagnosis. We are typically able to directly charge credit cards associated with your employer sponsored HRA or HSA (Health Savings Account; Flex Spending Account) type account.
We accept cash, check and credit card, as well as Health Savings and Flex Account cards.
Please provide 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. If you do not attend your scheduled therapy appointment, or you have not notified us at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session.
Not at all. Asking for help is one of the strongest decisions you can make, demonstrating a sense of initiative and an ability to self-reflect and identify complex issues. Perhaps this particular problem feels overwhelming and is making it difficult to access the qualities and skills you’ve relied on in the past. In our work together, we’ll help you identify those inner strengths and implement them in your current situation.
Absolutely not! While we’re happy to incorporate Christian beliefs and philosophies into our sessions and find that it is valuable to our Christian clients, being a Christian is by no means a requirement. We treat clients of all faith backgrounds and always respect a client’s beliefs. If you’re not religious, we will never impose our beliefs on you.
There are so many types of counseling available, and there are certainly benefits to each approach! While we are happy to incorporate Christian beliefs into our sessions—which may include praying with a client or referencing scripture, depending on the client’s comfort level—we are also Licensed Professional Counselors and use science-based approaches based on our years of education and training. This makes for a unique, hybrid counseling model that is not only holistic, but also highly attuned to each client’s needs.
For some clients, medication can be a helpful, and even necessary, treatment option. However, we believe that medication is most effective when used alongside regular therapy sessions. In our work together, we’ll explore the root of the issue, dig deep into your behavior, and teach strategies that can help you accomplish your personal and/or relational goals.
